The Parkview Museum·Beijing is honoured to present Poetic Dwelling, the first solo museum exhibition of artist Demos Chiang, on view from May 17 to November 17, 2025, curated by Shao Yiyang and featuring over 90 works including paintings, sculptures and digital media. The exhibition spans The Parkview Museum·Beijing, the public spaces of Parkview Green FangCaoDi, and an artist residency at Hotel Éclat Beijing.
Rooted in philosopher Martin Heidegger’s interpretation of a verse by Friedrich Hölderlin, Poetic Dwelling explores Chiang’s balance between nature and mythology, individuality and collectivity, instinct and technology. His visual language merges the philosophical lyricism of traditional Chinese ink painting with Western abstract expressionism to reflect the globalized psyche.

Born in Taiwan in 1976, Demos Chiang is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice traverses painting, sculpture, installation, digital media, and urban visual culture. Drawing on a vocabulary of anthropomorphized animal figures, Chiang investigates themes of empathy, equality, and the interconnectedness of all life forms. His work is rooted in a deep sensitivity to the complexities of the human experience and broader sociocultural dynamics, underpinned by a consistent and introspective personal ethos. Each painting is paired with an original English verse—emotionally resonant and philosophically charged—echoing the literati tradition of poetic inscription while reimagining it through a cross-cultural lens. His practice is defined by bold material experimentation, incorporating dripping enamel, pigment transfers, palette knife incisions, aerosol interventions, and fine-line detailing to create richly layered surfaces and visual depth. In his sculptural works, Chiang delves into metaphysical inquiries surrounding time and existence, employing a hybrid methodology of 3D printing and hand-finishing that reflects his interdisciplinary engagement with art, design, and contemporary aesthetics. His work is held in the permanent collections of Long Museum, Powerlong Museum, Aranya, Aman Group, Humble House Group, C’est Bon Design Group, Jut Group, and Breeze Group.
