永恒边界 展览序言

现代天文学中，论及宇宙的形成，有种种假说，但终结一切现成理论的“奇点”说一直颇占上风。这样的“终结者”，也将吸盘伸向当代哲学家哈拉维、齐泽克等，他们糅合“奇点”与“深渊”，或成“克苏鲁世”（Chthulucene）的后人类理论，或为怪物式的“独体”（sin-gularity）哲学。
本次展览王钰淇也带来数件影像作品，探讨那遥远神秘的外太空奇遇，无从抵达的生死之地以及虚实难辨的超现实梦境。它们是某种难以触及的生命“奇点”，也是散发着无穷魔力的永恒边界。

In modern astronomy, various hypotheses are proposed about the formation of the universe, but the ‘singularity’ theory that terminates all existing theories has always held sway. Such ‘terminators’ also extend their reach towards contemporary philosophers like Haraway, Zizek, and others, who mix ‘singularity’ and ‘abyss’ to either form post-human theories of the ‘Chthulucene’ or monstrous philosophies of ‘singularity’.
For this exhibition, Yuqi Wang brings several experimental films and video installations, exploring the far-off mysterious outer space adventures, unreachable lands of life and death, and surreal dreams that blur the line between reality and illusion. They are some sort of unreachable life ‘singularities’, as well as the eternal boundaries exuding infinite magic.

影⽚背景设置在未来太空探险时代，年轻的宇航员被派往执⾏地外行星探索任务。她所降落的行星引⼒⾮常微弱，各种神秘现象纷至沓来，如时空畸变、视象幻觉等。
“人类世”经验在此完全失效，她在好奇和不安中，感觉自身似已成了某种章鱼般怪物的实验品。她试图逃离或苏醒，但总有一个老人如影随形。心理学家拉康曾指出，所谓主体的构建本身就是不断异化的产物。那地外行星真就是大他者之外的某怪物世吗，它会如何重塑主人公的主体，人类还能从怪物的梦魇中全身而退吗？
The film is set in a future era of space exploration, where a young astronaut is dispatched to execute a mission to an extraterrestrial planet. The gravity of the planet she landed on is extremely weak, and various mysterious phenomena occur incessantly, such as space-time distortion, visual illusions, etc.
Her earthly experiences completely fail her here. Amidst her curiosity and unease, she feels as if she has become an experimental subject for some octopus-like creature. She tries to escape or awaken, but an old man always seems to shadow her. As psychologist Jacques Lacan once pointed out, the construction of the so-called subject is a product of constant alienation. Is this extraterrestrial planet really a monstrous world beyond the 'big other'? How will it reshape the protagonist's subject? Can humanity still escape unscathed from the nightmare of the monster?

影片设置两条故事线来回穿插，两位主⼈公身处截然不同的世界：原始仙境与摩登⼤都会。他们看似毫⽆关联，但到最后又彼此呼应。这部实验电影试图探讨生与死的循环。此在（Dasein）被抛于世，死亡成了最大的“奇点”，那人和文明本身在时空长河中，真只能走上虚无的不归路吗？
希腊哲学和印度佛学都曾作过探讨，且得出过相似结论，即没有永恒不变，只有永恒复返。倘如此，那组成生命的每个当下的每一念该如何安顿？也许恰如《四十二章经》云：“人命在几间？”对曰：“呼吸间”。能在每个一呼一吸之间绽出，才是生命所该有的起舞。
The film sets up two intertwining storylines featuring two protagonists in vastly different worlds: a primitive wonderland and a modern metropolis. They seem to have no connection, but eventually echo each other. This experimental movie attempts to explore the cycle of life and death. As 'Dasein' is thrown into the world, death becomes the greatest ‘singularity’. In the long river of time and space, are humans and civilization itself destined only for a path of void?
Both Greek philosophy and Indian Buddhism have explored this and arrived at similar conclusions, that there is no eternal constancy, only eternal recurrence. If so, how should we place every moment of every thought that constitutes life? Perhaps, as the Forty-Two Chapters Sutra says: ‘What measures a person's life?’ The answer is, ‘In each breath.’ The ability to blossom between each inhalation and exhalation is indeed the dance life should have.

现实与梦境 REALITY AND DREAMSPACE

王钰淇于2022年创作完成的⼀部短篇叙事电影，用以致敬20世纪中期的超现实主义电影大师，如Maya Deren等。德勒兹在《电影2》中指出，通过处理时间—影像的范畴，如虚假关系、虚假运动、无理剪切等，从而可标示出思维如何与引发它的混沌融为一体。该影⽚也⼤量运⽤了位移（Displacement）和跳跃剪辑（Jump Cutting）的制作⼿法，将怪物、魔眼、女孩、杯子、茶、废墟等难辨实际与潜在的影像相互连接，从而营造出⼀种超现实主义的寂静，以及⼀种让人摸不清头脑，不得不在现实与“现实”中来回穿梭的梦幻之境。
Yuqi Wang completed this short narrative film in 2022, paying tribute to mid-20th-century masters of surrealist cinema, such as Maya Deren. Deleuze points out in Cinema 2 that by dealing with the category of time-image, such as false relationships, false movements, irrational cuts, etc., one can indicate how thought merges with the chaos that triggers it. The film also extensively uses production techniques such as displacement and jump-cutting, linking images that are difficult to distinguish between actual and potential - the monster, the magical eye, the girl, the cup, the tea, the ruins, etc., thereby creating a surreal silence, and a dreamlike state where one is forced to shuttle back and forth between reality and 'reality', leaving one puzzled.

2000年出生于中国上海，现常年旅居于伦敦、巴黎和纽约等地。毕业于英国威斯敏斯特大学，其艺术实践涉及影像、表演、绘画、声音制作和装置等多种媒介。
目前，她的主要研究领域为哲学与科技以及探究人类对生活态度的思考，王钰淇的艺术作品在世界多地展出，包括上海M50和巴黎举办的个展。与此同时，她的实验电影在许多独立电影节上放映并获得了一系列奖项的提名。
