侨福当代美术馆·北京荣幸宣布，我们将于2025年1月18日推出新展“阈限之境——侨福当代艺术收藏展”，作为“侨福系列收藏展”的第四回，参展艺术家以隐喻的方式展现了“阈限”这一概念在视觉和语义上的多面性和复杂性。展览精选来自不同文化背景和世代的艺术家作品，涵盖绘画、装置、摄影等多种媒介，参展艺术家来自中国、奥地利、意大利、保加利亚和德国等多个国家，充分反映了侨福艺术收藏全球化和国际化特质。
The Parkview Museum Beijing is pleased to announce the opening of the contemporary art exhibition Welcome to Parkview Green IV｜Spaces of Liminality — Parkview Contemporary Art Collection on 18th January 2025. The exhibition is the fourth of a series of exhibitions about The Parkview Collection and it features selected works from artists who metaphorically evoke the concept of liminality in its various and multifaceted visual and semantic nuances. The exhibition, reflecting the global and international character of The Parkview Collection which encompasses artists from different cultural background and generations, presents a large variety of artworks spanning paintings, installations and photography created by artists from several countries including China, Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, and Germany.

阈限，源于拉丁语词汇"limen"，意为 "门槛"，长期以来一直吸引着来自不同领域的思想家、作家和学者，因为它揭示了人类现状以及变化和转变的本质。
Liminality, originating from the Latin word ‘limen’ meaning ‘threshold’, has long fascinated thinkers, writers, and scholars across disciplines as it provides insights into the human condition and the nature of change and transformation.
阈限的概念指的是一种存在于我们意识与现实交界处的过渡状态。阈限描绘了一种正在形成的转变，一种潜在的转化，一个即将发生的时刻：它定义了一个从熟悉过渡到未知，从而向新的可能性敞开大门的空间。阈限的表现形式既有隐喻，也有实体：它可以与梦境、通道、人生的过渡阶段相关联，也可以指代地理疆界、机场、酒店等场所。对“阈限”的定义之难，反映了其所代表的情感的复杂性。
The concept of liminality refers to the transitional, in-between places that exist on the thresholds of our consciousness and reality. Liminality captures a state of becoming, a potential transformation, a moment when something is about to happen, a void that can be potentially filled: it defines a space where the familiar transitions into the unknown to open up to new possibilities. The representation of liminality is both metaphorical and physical: it can be associated to dream sequences, portals, transitional stages in life, but also to places like geographical borders, airports, hotels. The challenge of defining liminality reflects the complexity of the emotions it represents.

The participating artists, through a variety of mediums and languages, explore the metaphorical interpretation of the concept of liminality conceived as a transitional space, both mental and psychological: through a personal, unique and distinctive language, the artists conceptualize new intelligible realities and thinking systems, inspiring the viewers to elaborate unprecedented interpretations of reality.

考虑到每件参展作品在展览主题概念框架内的自主性，阈限空间成为一个激进的幻想空间，成为释放个人想象的场域，让人们与艺术作品建立紧密且个性化的联系。每件作品都有一个故事要讲述，都有一段记忆要被唤醒。
In the showcased works of art, selected taking into account the autonomy of each work of art in relation to its use within the conceptual framework of the thematic exhibition, liminal space becomes a space for radical fantasy, to free individual imagination and to establish intimate and personal connections with the works of art, each one of them with a story to tell and with a memory to awaken.

每位参展艺术家都以其独特的方式探索阈限空间。有些作品描绘了人类主观视角中内省的个体空间；有些作品则呈现从自然到人工、从现实到梦幻维度的过渡过程；有些作品则以隐喻的方式探讨了因为现代科技所带来的、在虚拟与现实之间摇摆的边缘空间；另一些艺术家则专注于人类生存状态持续变化所带来的不稳定和不确定性。
The artists of the exhibition explore the liminal in distinct ways. Some works capture meditative, internal personal space, thus highlighting the subjective dimension; other works depict the transition from natural to artificial, from reality to dream-like dimension; some works metaphorically depict the liminal space oscillating between the virtual and the real in contemporary society characterized by scientific and technological advancement, while other artists address the condition of on-going transformation, instability and uncertainty of human existential condition.
尽管参展艺术家的背景和艺术风格各不相同，但他们都观察到了我们身处在不断变化的环境中，并在作品中将他们的个人经历作为一种范式来探讨当代社会生活中普遍存在的议题，由此体现出他们独特的视角。艺术家们试图避免任何单一的解读或统一的阐释，深入探讨这种持续变化的状态如何引发确定性的丧失，同时将我们暴露在生命中神秘且难以言喻的美之中。阈限空间因其过渡性，通常与模糊、迷失和不确定性联系在一起；但实际上，阈限空间是一个充满无限可能的地方；它可以创造新的身份和可能性，二元对立的概念在这里被挑战和瓦解。“阈限之境——侨福当代艺术收藏展”将观众带入一个梦境般的维度，在这里，所有的焦虑和困惑会与对未来的好奇、期待和希望交织在一起。
While the participating artists have a diverse backgrounds and artistic style, they observe the condition of constant transformation we live in, reflecting their unique perspective in their work and bringing their individual experience as a paradigm to address universal issues about life in contemporary society. Avoiding any monolithic reading or univocal interpretation, the artists explore how the constant state of change gives raise to the loss of certainties, while, at the same time, exposing us to the mysterious and ineffable beauty of life. Often associated with feelings of ambiguity, disorientation, and uncertainty because of their transitional character, liminal spaces are in fact places of endless opportunities, where new identities and possibilities can be formed and explored and where binary distinctions are challenged and undermined. Spaces of Liminality–Parkview Contemporary Art Collection brings the viewers into a dream-like dimension where feelings of anxiety and confusion are mixed up with curiosity, expectations and hopes for the future.
